Once upon a time, a turtle and a deer were very good friends. The turtle lived in the lake and there was a small grove of trees nearby where the wolf lived. One day they were talking about something when a tiger arrived to drink water from the pond. The wolf ran away in panic, but the turtle couldn’t escape as he was too slow. The tiger pounced on him and with his mouth pushed him to a nearby tree by the lake and sat down to eat him. But his teeth or sharp claws could not make a dent in the hard shell of the turtle. The wolf was watching all this from behind the tree. He approached the tiger who was trying to eat the turtle. ”I know how you can eat the turtle, just throw him in the water. Once you soak him for a few minutes in water, the water will soften his shell. See for yourself” said the wolf to the tiger. “What a great idea!” exclaimed the tiger and he threw the turtle into the water. And the turtle swam to safety at the bottom of the lake in a small cave, mentally making a note to thank his friend for saving his life with his quick thinking!

Wisdom, life lessons and rules-A friend in need is a friend indeed! To be called a true friend, we should always help our friends who are in need. It could be any type of help, like helping a friend who is struggling in studies one can help them by giving them tips on study skills for example.

“Mommy, my best friend Kuntil is going to come for my birthday after all! He was ill for a long time but I am so glad he will make it now. It makes me so happy that he will be able to attend my party now. When he was sick, just the thought of him not attending my birthday, made me really sad… but now it makes me look forward to my birthday just because he will come! I cannot wait to join my roots to his on my birthday!” said Neelu tree.

“I am so happy for you that he will come for your special day! Friends indeed are very special, they make our lives light up and they are just the right people to share our thoughts, feelings, our hopes and dreams. But we must be very careful about what kind of company we keep. Because sometimes, the company we keep can uplift us, save us or it can be the reason why we fall, if the company is not so good. So try to choose friends carefully and I will tell you a story of a true friend” said Nishu tree…
