The Seagulls and the Ocean

The seagull’s wife was pregnant and heavy with eggs and they were looking for a safe place to lay their eggs somewhere where any animals or birds would not eat their eggs. The seagulls decided to lay their eggs near the ocean but mother seagulls was reluctant to do so as the ocean could take her eggs away in high tide. But the father seagull assured her that no one would dare to take their eggs away. So the eggs were safely laid near the rock besides the ocean. The ocean had heard their conversation and he decided to test the seagulls. Next morning, when both the birds flew away to gather food, the ocean took the eggs away. The seagull and his wife returned in the evening and upon seeing the missing eggs, the wife cried a lot and was totally devastated. The seagull assured his wife that ocean will have to return their stolen eggs and he went to the King of the birds, Garuda, God Vishnu’s transport. Garuda heard the seagull’s story and related it to God Vishnu. Immediately, Lord vishnu asked the ocean to return the eggs to the seagulls or else he would dry up the ocean! The Ocean returned the eggs to seagull and his wife and they lived happily ever after. The ocean was humbled with defeat by a mere bird.
