The 2 snakes

Once upon a time, many centuries ago, there was a prince and in his belly there lived a snake. The prince was most uncomfortable and depressed by his predicament. He decided to leave his home and live in a temple in a neighboring kingdom close to God where he could pray and ask God’s help to get rid of this snake in his belly. Meanwhile in this new kingdom, the king had 2 daughters. Every time they had dinner, their father would ask them that they were lucky to be his daughters and it was because of him that they were fortunate! the older daughter always wished him well and said “Dearest father, thank you for everything!” and the second daughter would say “Dearest father it is God who decides our fortune and destiny!” The king was getting irritated with the younger daughter and one day he told his minister “Take my second daughter and marry her off to a foreigner and she may be left to her own destiny!” The minister found out that the prince who lived in the temple was a foreigner and so they were married and she was given money and a few maids to be with her. The couple lived happily. One day the princess was out with her maids and when she returned she saw the prince sleeping with his head resting on a tree, and she saw a snake coming out of prince’s mouth. Then she saw another snake come out of another tree and both hissed angrily at each other. She decided to hide behind a tree and watched in horror as both the snakes were engaged in fighting with one another.

The other snake said “Why are you tormenting this handsome prince by staying in the prince’s belly? and the other snake replied “ Why are you hiding the gold coins in your tree?”

To this the other snake replied “ It is very easy to destroy you, if the prince eats a cup of papaya seeds then you will easily die in his belly.” The other snake replied “It is also very easy to destroy you, if someone pours hot boiling water on your hole in the tree you will be killed instantly.

Hearing the secrets of both the snakes, next day the princess did exactly that. She fed the prince a cup of black papaya seeds and the snake died immediately in his belly and the prince was free from the evil snake. The couple rejoiced and then decided to go back to their homeland and lived happily with their family and friends.
