The Mouse Girl

Once upon a time, an sage was praying and suddenly, a baby mouse started to play in his lap. The sage with his meditation powers transformed the baby mouse into a baby girl and took her to his home and gave her to his wife. They didn’t have any children so they both were overjoyed to have a baby girl of their own. When she was of age the powerful sage decided to marry her off. He invoked the Sun God and asked him to marry her daughter. Then he turned to his daughter and asked her if she would like to marry Sun God. His daughter replied “He is too hot so no, I would rather marry someone superior to him.” So the father asked the Cloud God to marry his daughter as Cloud God was able to make Sun invisible so he was superior to Sun God. But the daughter refused to marry him as he was dark in complexion. She wanted to marry someone superior to the Cloud God. So the father summoned Wind God as he was stronger than Cloud God. But the girl refused to marry him as well as the wind god was too restless. So then the father summoned mountain as mountain was steady and superior to the wind. The girl refused to marry the mountain as she found him too hard hearted and stiff. Then the mountain said “Sir, superior to me are mice as a mouse is able to dig into the mountain and make holes. Then the sage presented a mouse to his daughter. And the daughter was happy as she felt he was her kind and she agreed to marry the mouse. So the sage turned the daughter back into a mouse-girl and married her off to the mouse. They both lived happily ever after.
