A Friend’s Answer

Long time ago, there were 2 friends going through a jungle to go to another city. It was very hot and they decided to sit down under a shady tree and have their lunch. As they were eating lunch they started to argue about something and the argument started heating up to a point where the taller of the two friend slapped the shorter friend in anger. The shorter friend was stunned but he remained calm. Then he took a branch lying nearby and wrote on the soil that, “Today, my best friend slapped me as he was angry!” Then as they continued the journey the shorter friend who was walking behind the taller friend started suddenly screaming, “Help, I am stuck in the quicksand!” The taller friend immediately made a lot of effort to pull his friend out of the quicksand. The shorter friend was able to come out safely of the quicksand. Then after traveling a short distance they rested under a tree as they were exhausted. The short friend took a stone and started carving painstakingly and slowly on the tree trunk, “Today my best friend saved my life!” The tall friend asked the other friend Why are you writing things in soil and carving sentences on a tree?” “When someone gives us pain or hurt we should not keep it in our heart and remember it over and over again. Instead we must write it in the sand so the air will wipe it clean in the sand and soil and we can also forgive others easily like the air does and clean the hurt that others caused us from our hearts. But if someone does good for us then we must keep it in our mind and heart and never forget it and to be grateful from within so thats why I am carving it on the tree trunk and in my heart to always remember to be grateful to you and never forget what you did for me.” replied the wise short friend.
