Camel, Crow, Jackal, Leopard and Lion

Once upon a time, Lion, the king of the jungle came upon a camel who was abandoned and lost in the jungle. He asked the camel who he was and what he was doing in jungle, as he had never seen such a strange looking creature in the jungle. The camel related the story of how he was abandoned and lost in the jungle and that he was called a camel. The King of jungle took pity on the strange comical looking creature and granted him protection and added him to his team of followers. The lion was always surrounded by his loyal followers a crow, jackal, leopard and they ate his leftovers after a good hunt. Now the camel also joined the followers and was part of the team of the lion. One day the lion had a fight with an elephant and was badly injured in the fight. He didn’t have the strength or energy to go for another hunt next day as he was trying to heal himself. He told his companions to round up some animal and bring him food. The team didn’t have any luck and all of them were very hungry from a week. The sharp-witted jackal decided to ask the lion if they could eat the camel as they were starving. The lion king was angry with jackal for suggesting it as lion had granted the camel, protection. But the cunning jackal persisted saying if the camel himself offered himself as food then it was okay to eat him and the king agreed. The jackal confided a strategy to fool the camel and make a meal out of camel with rest of the team. After no luck with finding food that evening, they all gathered around the lion in his cave. The crow said “Dearest king of the jungle, I am your humble servant, I would like to offer myself as food to quench yr hunger.” The cunning jackal scoffed at him according to their plan, and said “You will not be sufficient meal to quench our king’s hunger. Let me offer myself as food for the the lion king.” The leopard replied “Your meat will also not be sufficient as you are petty too. The leopard said, “Sir, in that case, you may use my body as food.” The camel thought since the lion spared everyone’s life he will also spare his life as well and so he said “Dear leopard, you are petty and small compared to me. But please use my body for food, your majesty.” Everyone pounced on the poor camel and killed him instantly as they were starving. The poor camel died even though he had been granted protection from the king because of the clever plan which was hatched against him by his teammates.
